Peer mentorship

Students are assigned to tight-knit small groups led by first-generation upper-classmen peer leaders who will offer guidance and insight on the transition to college. The small group setting helps to build friendships and students will get the chance to engage through development and networking opportunities and interact with faculty, staff and peers at social events while developing the skills they need to be successful.

F1rst2Go aims to support students in three main categories.

Students are groups by academic college and led by a peer leader from the same college. This allows first-generation students to be surrounded by their peers who share the same academic experiences.

Students have access to a Financial Planning Coach in First Year Success who can help them by talking about how to navigate paying for college, filling out their FAFSA and make paying for college seem much less intimidating.

F1rst2Go students attend campus events and will join at least one campus organization to help them feel more at home on campus.

Your network is bigger than you think

We have a diverse student population at OSU. Our first-generation students make up a large part of our incoming freshman class and our student population as a whole.
